Air Conditioner

Darkroom might need an air conditioner. Usually, darkrooms do not have a window, so if the room does not have a centralized AC, the option may be limited. I have tried Sunpentown WA-1220M portable air conditioner with its exhaust duct connected to the ventilation line of the darkroom.

This air conditioner works fine, and it does not produce noticeable vibration that affects image quality in enlargementt. The fan noise, on the other hand, is rather loud. This AC is designed to expire some of the room air via the vent duct, this drawing some fresh air into the room.

This air conditioner is best at dehumidifying and keeping moderate room temperature. However, it is not very powerful in cooling a hot room to winter-cold temperature. I have found that it can do a very decent job if you are comfortable with 25˚C to 27˚C (77 to 80˚F). This is only a few degrees lower than the outside ambient temp in my building, but the comfort level is significantly higher, and the amount of condensation on my cold water line has decreased significantly.
